Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy to organise Puppet Theatre Fest online

News Desk: The Puppet Theatre Fest, arranged by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), will be held online this year, due to the coronavirus pandemic. The festival was scheduled to start on June 26, but was postponed later. The new date of the festival is not yet finalized, according to Hasan Mahmud, Public Relations Officer, BSA.

Seven theatre troupe from across the country will participate in the online festival. It will be aired from BSA’s official Facebook page and YouTube channel.

A workshop was conducted by BSA from June 19-21, with the seven participating troupes on different techniques and modes of puppet dance. Hasan Mahmud also mentioned that BSA has recorded the performances for the festival.

The seven featured performances in the festival will be Professor Rashid Harun’s ‘Manush’ by Puppet Research and Development Center, Department of Drama & Dramatics, Jahangirnagar University, Khelu Mia’s production by Bina Bani Puppet Troupe, Brahmanbaria, Arup Barua’s ‘Bismoy’ by Puppet Lab, Chittagong University, Bikash Rajbangshi’s production by Bishwarupa Puppet Troupe, Manikganj, Mostafa Monwar’s ‘Panta Buri’ by Dhaka Puppet Theatre, ‘Shar Kopi Lichu Chor’ by Multimedia Puppet Theatre and Saiful Jarnal’s ‘Bok O Bagher Golpo’ by Jolputul Puppets.
