News Desk: In celebration of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a recitation program dedicated to the Father of the Nation has been held in Sylhet, the spiritual capital of the country.

The event was held at 5:30 pm on Friday, March 19 at the city’s central Shahid Minar premises. Executive Member of Bangladesh Recitation Coordinating Council Syed Saimum Anjum Ivan delivered the welcome address at the function presided over by Mokaddes Babul, Member of the Presidium of Bangladesh Recitation Coordinating Council and conducted by Executive Member Sukant Gupta.

Additional Commissioner of Sylhet Metropolitan Police Paritosh Ghosh addressed the function as the chief guest. Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet Metropolitan Police Faisal Mahmud, Cultural Secretary of Sylhet District Awami League Shamsul Alam Selim, President of Sammilita Natyaparishad Mishfaq Ahmed Chowdhury Mishu spoke as special guests. Sylhet District Cultural Officer Asit Baran Das Gupta delivered the welcome speech.

Prominent reciters Mokaddes Babul, Syed Saimum Anjum Ivan, Afroza Akter Rumpa, Jarin Tasneem Athai, Priyashree Kar Pew, Amit Trivedi, Chapal Kundu, Asit Baran Das Gupta, Navnita Karmakar performed solo recitations. Urvashi Recitation Parishad Sylhet, Urvashi Recitation Parishad Sylhet, Mavaih Shabiprabi, Shruti Sylhet, Mrittika Mahakal, Kathan Avarti Sangsad and Muktakshar Sylhet performed party recitations on the occasion.
