Economy Desk: BGMEA has taken initiative to present the country’s heritage in export products in the international garment market. And HSBC Bank Limited has come forward to make this initiative a success.
An agreement in this regard was signed between BGMEA and HSBC at the BGMEA PR and Media Cell in Gulshan on Monday. Under the agreement, HSBC will sponsor BGMEA’s pledge initiative to present heritage in export products.
BGMEA President. Rubana Haque and HSBC Bank Limited, Bangladesh on behalf of the CEO. Mahbub Ur Rahman signed the agreement. The signing ceremony was attended by senior officials including BGMEA Vice President MA Rahim, Director Mohammad Abdul Momen, PR Committee Chairman Khan Monirul Alam, RSC Committee Chairman Nafis-ud-Daulah and Kevin Green, Head of Wholesale Banking, HSBC Limited.
It was informed that BGMEA has announced for the first time under the Go Human Go Green initiative in line with the government’s achievement of SDG targets, one of which is to present the tradition of export products in the fashion world. Under this initiative, BGMEA has taken detailed plans of various campaigns including fashion show, information and video making by presenting the culture and heritage of Bangladesh in export garments to attract buyers from 14 big countries. The countries are: Germany, UK, Spain, France, Italy, Poland, Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium, Sweden, Japan, Australia, USA and Canada.
BGMEA deeply believes that the nation must move forward with tradition. If we can export tradition and culture. We can make our mark in the international fashion world, but it will be a huge milestone for the country’s garment industry. BGMEA is working on this.
BGMEA has already undertaken several projects with local and foreign fashion designers for this purpose. According to the EPB, exports of formal and fashion garments are declining by a large margin compared to basic garments. In general, formal and fashion clothing are classified as ovens. On the other hand, different types of basic clothes like genji, trousers etc. are categorized as net.
During July-January, garment exports declined by 3.44 percent. Net exports have also increased by 3.84 percent. On the other hand, the oven has decreased by about 11 percent. Combined with these two categories, garments worth 1,641 crore have been exported during the period under review. In the same period of the previous year, the amount was 1 thousand 906 million dollars.
