BNP to mourn Hannan Shah’s death for four days

After the death of its veteran leader ASM Hannan Shah, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has announced a four day mourning programme to honour him starting from Tuesday.

Issuing a press release regarding the matter, BNP stated that the party will observe the mourning from Tuesday to Friday by hoisting black flags and keeping the party flag at half-mast atop its offices across the country.

The press release, signed by BNP’s assistant office secretary Taiful Islam Tipu, also reads that Doa and milad mehfils will be held across the country on Friday seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of Hannan Shah.

Besides, around 11:00 am on Tuesday, the party also opened a condolence book at the party’s Naya Paltan headquarters for leaders and activists of the party’s different front and associate bodies to convey their sorrow.

The condolence book will remain open from 10:00am to 6:00pm till Thursday.

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and leaders of the party’s standing committee and national executive committee have already expressed deep shock at the death of Hannan Shah.

Hannan Shah, a standing committee member of BNP, died at a Singapore hospital on Tuesday morning at the age of 77.
