The work of NBR started to prepare the budget

News Desk: The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has already started the work of preparing the budget for the next 2021-22 financial year. As part of this, the organization has sought budget proposals from various chambers and associations in the country.

The NBR has asked the chambers and associations to send their proposals in writing to the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), the apex body of traders, by March 8.

According to NBR sources, the NBR mainly prepares revenue policies for budget formulation. In order to formulate a participatory, people-oriented, industry, business and taxpayer-friendly and revenue-balanced balanced budget, the NBR invites budget proposals from various taxpayer industry and trade associations, professional organizations, research institutes and intellectuals and discusses revenue collection methods with them.

As part of this, the NBR is interested in formulating a budget through negotiations to make the revenue collection activities for the next 2021-22 fiscal year more meaningful and representative. The revenue administration has requested the trade associations to send their proposals to the FBCCI by March 8.

NBR officials said the sector-based pre-budget talks will start from the first week of March or April. Apart from trade organizations, professionals from various sectors also took part in the discussion.

Meanwhile, the budget proposals will be seriously considered, the agency said, adding that organizations, bodies or departments that are not members of any chamber or association can also send budget proposals directly to the NBR by e-mail.
