Bangladesh advanced to the series by defeating Sri Lanka by 33 runs in the first match of the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka on Sunday (May 23). Through this, the Tigers got a taste of the first victory against the Lankans after 2018.

The Lankans could not stand straight in the spin of spinner Mehdi Hasan Miraj. Miraj took 4 wickets with 30 runs in 10 overs. Mostafiz took 3 wickets for 34 runs and Saif Uddin took 2 wickets for 49 runs.

Batting first in the match, Bangladesh lost 6 wickets and played 50 overs and scored 257 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. In reply, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 224 in 48 overs.

Mushfiqur Rahim scored the highest 84 runs for Bangladesh in the match. Opener Tamim Iqbal scored 52 runs. Through this, Tamim completed 14,000 runs in his career. Moreover, Shakib Al Hasan took one wicket in this match and completed one thousand wickets in his career.

Wanindu Hasaranga scored the highest 64 runs for Sri Lanka in the match. Kushal Perera scored the second highest 30 runs. Mehdi Hasan Miraj took maximum 4 wickets for Bangladesh. On the other hand, Dhananjaya de Silva took three wickets for Sri Lanka.
