News Desk: The new president of the country’s top business organization FBCCI. Jasim Uddin said, “FBCCI needs reform.”

FBCCI President. Jasim Uddin made the remarks at an introductory function for the new committee members at the “FBCCI Icon 60 building” in Motijheel at noon.

Mostafa Azad Chowdhury, senior vice president of the organization, MA Momen, Habib Ullah Don, Amin Helali, Aminul Haque, MA Razzak Khan, Salauddin Alamgir and several other directors were present at the time.

The new board headed by Jasim Uddin for the next two years officially took charge last night. The first board meeting was held yesterday morning after taking charge. The new president Jasim Uddin presided over it.

Jasim Uddin said, FBCCI will work in the interest of traders. Initiatives will be taken to form an effective FBCCI, increase the capacity of the organization and improve the quality of service. He added that FBCCI has always been on the side of small and medium enterprises. The first task of the present board will be to assist small and medium enterprises. Work will also be done to cluster isolated small scale industries and take them to the export market.

The FBCCI president said, “We have taken responsibility at a time when the whole world is in turmoil. Bangladesh is no exception. ‘He said,’ We are better than the neighboring countries. But there are business challenges. I will work for the development of the traders. ‘

As in previous terms, the president and vice-president, starting from the director of the FBCCI, have been elected by consensus without a vote of the general members. Ordinary members did not get a chance to vote on May 5.

Jasim Uddin, the new president of FBCCI, was the senior vice president of the organization in 2010-12. The Bengal Group of Industries owned by him has a wide range of businesses including plastic products, housing, media, readymade garments, food.

Jasim Uddin has also got approval for a new bank called Bengal Commercial. He is the chairman of the bank. His brother Morshed Alam, chairman of Bengal Group of Industries, is an MP who is also now chairman of Mercantile Bank.
