“There is an opportunity to whiten black money in the next budget too”: Finance Minister

News Desk: Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has said that there is an opportunity to launder black money in the budget of the next financial year. He said as long as there is undisclosed money in the economy, the government will continue this opportunity.

He was responding to a question from reporters after a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs and Public Procurement yesterday. He presided over the online meeting.

Journalists asked the finance minister whether there is an opportunity to launder black money in the next financial year. In reply, he said, not black money. Undisclosed money. This time too there will be this opportunity. As long as the undisclosed money is not displayed, the government will continue to give this opportunity.

He said in some parts of the country, money is often undisclosed due to systemic reasons. If these funds are not given a chance to show, if they are not brought into the mainstream of the economy, then the economy will not work properly.

Asked if the opportunity to display undisclosed money in the next budget would be on the same terms as in the current financial year, the finance minister said it could not be said now. Therefore, we have to wait till June 3, the day of presenting the budget. It is to be mentioned that in the current financial year, undisclosed amount is going to be displayed in most cases with only 10 percent tax without any question. Besides, in case of land and flats, it is going to be shown by paying tax according to the square feet or mentioned in the income tax return.

Regarding the distribution of incentive loans in the SME sector, he said, loans are being given to small and micro entrepreneurs going beyond the middlemen. That’s why it’s getting late. For those who do not have an account, their account is being opened. The situation has been quoted much more than before.

Two projects were approved at the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs meeting on Wednesday and 10 projects were approved at the Cabinet Committee on Procurement meeting.
