Sports Desk: Bangladesh cricketers are in quarantine after returning from Sri Lanka tour. As a rule, everyone returning to Sri Lanka has to stay in a three-day home quarantine. Tamim and Mushfiqur will start training for the one-day series against Sri Lanka at the end of the quarantine on Friday (May 7). This was stated by the chief selector of the national team Minhazul Abedin Nannu on Thursday.

Bangladesh’s final squad for the ODI series will be announced after Eid-ul-Fitr. The selectors will form a 16-member squad for three ODIs on home soil. Nannu said the ODI team will be given after Eid. That could be May 18. The whole team will practice from Friday.

Preliminary team practice for the home series started on May 2. Six cricketers have practiced in a row. They had a rest on Thursday. According to the schedule sent by the BCB, the entire preliminary team is going to practice together today. There were 9 cricketers in the preliminary squad for the ODI tour of Lanka. So Liton, Mushfiqur, Tamim, Mithun, Taizul, Shant, Miraj, Taskin and Shariful will return to Sri Lanka from today.

The practice will start from 2 pm at Mirpur Stadium. The practice will be for three days before Eid. Then the cricketers will get Eid leave. There will be a holiday till May 17.

The Sri Lankan team will leave for Bangladesh on May 16. The Lankans will be in a three-day quarantine. Sri Lanka is thinking of building a youth dependent team for the 2023 ODI World Cup in Bangladesh. The country is going to make Kushal Perera the ODI captain by removing Dimuth Korner. Kushal Mendis can be his deputy. Experienced cricketers like Mathews and Chandimal can be dropped from the ODI team. Experienced all-rounder Thisara Perera has already retired from international cricket after receiving indications of omission.
