Sports Desk: Although international cricket is being played in Corona for biological protection, domestic cricket is still closed. The first class cricket national league started on February 22. But if the corona infection increased in March, it had to be postponed after two rounds. Many players and officials of the teams were also affected by Corona at that time.

Due to the closure of domestic cricket, the source of income of most of the cricketers in the country has also stopped. However, a glimmer of hope appeared in front of them again today in an announcement made by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). The BCB said in a press release that the suspended Premier League for the 2019–20 season will start anew from May 31.

Named Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Cricket League, this league will be in T20 edition this time. The league was closed on 19 March 2020 due to Corona after 6 matches.

CCDM chairman Kazi Inam Ahmed said, “The Premier League is planned to start from May 31. As per the earlier decision, it will be in T20 version. With the busy international schedule and the upcoming T20 World Cup in mind, we thought it would be better to host the T20 league in the 2019-20 season. ‘

The CCDM chief also said that special attention would be given to the health and safety of cricketers and officials this time keeping in mind the corona infection. He sought the support of clubs and cricketers in organizing the league in compliance with health rules.

Before the start of the Premier Cricket League, however, the three-match ODI series of the Bangladesh team against Sri Lanka will be played in Dhaka. According to the probable schedule, the three matches will be played on May 23, 25 and 27. In that case, the cricketers of the national team should also be able to play in the league starting from May 31.
