Sports Desk: Former Bangladesh bowling coach and Zimbabwe captain Heath Streak has been banned from all cricket activities for 8 years. Five anti-corruption charges have been brought against him.
Strick, who has been charged under five sections of the ICC’s anti-corruption code, has admitted everything. The ICC banned him after that confession.
Violations of the five sections include the 2018 triangular series between Bangladesh, Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka, the same year’s Zimbabwe-Afghanistan series, the IPL and the Afghanistan Premier League match.
The ICC has found many more allegations against Strick, including not informing the ICC’s anti-corruption committee about the gambler’s proposal, non-cooperation in the investigation, and providing information in exchange for a gift from the gambler.
Despite receiving these offers from gamblers in the 2017 BPL, 2018 Pakistan Super League, 2018 IPL and APL, Strick kept them secret or cooperated with them.
Heath Streak was one of the most successful all-rounders in his playing career. He has played 65 Tests and 189 ODIs for the country. He started his career as a coach at the end of his playing career. In August 2009, Strick became the bowling coach of the Zimbabwe national cricket team. He was also involved in training young fast bowlers in Zimbabwe.
Then in May 2014 he took charge as the bowling coach of the Bangladesh national team. He was in this position till 2016. He has also served as a consultant to various parties under the control of the board.
