Sports Desk: Virat Kohli’s India have been fined for the second time in the five-match T20 series against England. Everyone on the team has been fined 40 per cent of the match fee for slow overs in the last match of the series.
The last T20 match between India and England ended in an undeclared final due to a 2-2 draw in the series. India won the five-match T20 series by defeating England by 36 runs in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday.
Jos Butler and David Malan kept England on the verge of victory by batting for a big target of 225 runs. However, after the dismissal of these two, England’s batting got confused. The Indian cricketers could not match from time to time during this exciting match. He took more time to bowl the allotted 20 overs.
Virat Kohli could not bowl India’s 20 overs in the allotted time. India took more than 2 overs. As a result, the ICC fined them. Indian cricketers have been fined a total of 40 per cent of their match fees for delaying two overs at 20 per cent. No further formal hearing was required as captain Kohli admitted his mistake.
In the second match of the series too, the Indians had to pay a fine for slow pace. They were fined 20 per cent for delaying 1 over in that match. In the fourth match of the series, England was also fined 20 per cent for the same reason.
