Sports desk: Former star spinner Abdur Razzak Raj has become the selector of the national team before he officially retired from playing. On the other hand, Shahriar Nafees is being appointed to the top post in important departments like Cricket Operations Committee of the board. All in all, the two are going to officially announce their retirement this time.
Razzak and Nafees will officially retire on Saturday, February 13, the Cricketers Welfare Association of Bangladesh (COAB) said in a statement. The ceremony will be held at 12 noon at the press conference room of the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, known as the ‘Home of Cricket’.
Razzak has taken 26 wickets in 20 innings of 13 Tests for Bangladesh. He took 206 wickets in 153 ODIs. He has 44 wickets in 34 T20s. He also took 634 wickets in 136 matches in first-class cricket and 412 wickets in 260 matches in ‘List-A’ cricket. On the other hand, Shahriar Nafees has scored 226 runs in 24 Tests at an average of 26.39. There are 6 fifties next to 1 century (138). He has scored 2201 runs in 75 ODIs. Average 31.44, strike rate 69.49. Besides 4 centuries, there are 13 half centuries. Maximum 123 runs. He scored 25 runs in the only T20 match.
