The coronavirus vaccine discovered by Globe Biotech has been named ‘Bangavax’. Despite discovering it as the second country in South Asia, the Bangladesh Medical Research Council (BMRC) has been accused of withholding approval of the clinical trial for nearly three weeks due to bureaucratic complications. Meanwhile, Hasan Mahmud, information minister and joint general secretary of the Awami League, said the vaccine was scrapped by looking at the enthusiasm of people who had criticized the coronavirus vaccine.

At the Secretariat on Thursday, the Information Minister congratulated Globe Biotech Limited, the head of Bangladesh’s first coronavirus vaccine discovery team, at a meeting with the two scientists.

Awami League joint general secretary Hasan Mahmud said, “The special feature of Bangavax is that it is a single dose vaccine.” Many vaccines in the world are in multiple doses. But since it is a single dose, it is enough to take it once. It is now awaiting the approval of the Ethics Committee of the Bangladesh Medical Research Council for clinical trials.
