A Dhaka court is scheduled to deliver its verdict on Sunday in the case filed against former national cricketer Shahadat Hossain and his wife Jesmine Jahan Nrittya over the torture of the couple`s 11-year-old domestic help.

Judge Tanjina Ismail of Dhaka`s Fifth Tribunal for Prevention of Women & Children Repression court is expected to hand down the verdict at noon on the day.

On October 31 after completion of arguments from both sides, the tribunal fixed the day for announcing its judgment.

Earlier on October 27, Shahadat and his wife Nrittya pleaded not guilty and demanded justice in the case.

On September 6, 2015, domestic help Mahfuza Akhtar Happy brought allegations of torture by Shahadat and his wife.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) suspended Shahadat on September 13 after the allegation was brought against him.
