High flying Bangladesh women’s football team will take on Kyrgyzstan today when they will play their third match of the AFC Under-16 women’s football at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
Bangladesh, who grabbed comfortable victories in their successive two previous matches with defeating one of the favourites Iran by 3-0 and overpowered Singapore by 5-0, will have to beat Kyrgyzstan with a bigger margin than Chinese Taipei.
Meanwhile, Chinese Taipei also won their two previous matches with defeating Kyrgyzstan by 7-1 and UAE by 5-0.
So, the match is important for Bangladesh women to increase their goal tally to leave behind Chinese Taipei, who are the closet contenders to be the champions from this group but they (Chinese) are ahead of Bangladesh in goal difference, as they scored a total of 12 goals and conceded one while Bangladesh scored eight goals and did not concede any goal.
Before the practice session yesterday at the Astro-turf ground adjacent to BFF office, Arambagh, to score more goals, team’s coach Golam Rabbani Chhotan also expressed his opinion that he will field his disciple with the target to score goals.
“As, after defeating Iran, now Chinese Taipei is our main rivals, so we will have to reduce the goal difference with them and we will try to score as many goals as possible,” Chhotan, under whom Bangladesh Under 14-team won the regional champions of the AFC age group championship.
Bangladesh, though won their last two matches, could not score enough goals, as they could convert all the opportunities they created, they wasted so many easy chances, otherwise they would have at least eight to ten goals in each match.
It was also something alarming for Bangladesh as they had to wait to open the net for a long 38 minutes despite having more than half a dozen scoring chances against Singapore in their last match.
Chhotan also explained it, as he said, “Though we won the last two matches, we spoiled a plenty of scoring chances. We worked much on this, hope girls will not make the wrong repeatedly. Truly, we did not play any international practice matches before the competition, if we could play preparation matches I believe we would not do so many mistakes.”
