House and Building Research Institute (HBRI) has continued its eviction drive at ‘Kalayanpur Porabosti’ although the High Court (HC) has stayed the drive for 3 months.
A bench headed by Justice Tariqul Hakim passed the order on Thursday.
An officer of HBRI said they have no information about the High Court order.
Meanwhile, a chase and counter-chase took place between policemen and slum dwellers during an eviction drive.
With the support of police, staff of HBRI began to demolish slum houses around 10.00am.
In protest against the eviction drive, slum dwellers began demonstration setting fire to tyre and blocking a road.
The eviction drive took a violent turn as slum dwellers attacked the team throwing brick chips around 11.00am, triggering a chase and counter-chase between them.
Police used tear shell to disperse the slum dwellers.
