Sport Correspondent: Walton Group secured the semi final of T20 corporate cricket tournament thrashing defending champion GrameenPhone by five wickets on Saturday at city’s Residential Model School and College ground.

Wining toss, GrameenPhone chose to bat first and managed to score only 105 runs all out before their stipulated twenty overs finished.

In reply, Walton Group chased the target showing sensational batting performance with five wickets and 11 balls remaining.

Walton Group skipper Uday Hakim dedicated the win to Walton Hi-Tech Industries Limited`s Managing Director S.M. Ashraful Alam.

Walton’s Sumon Islam Babu took three wickets for 10 runs while Sahel Mia and Jony Som bagged two wickets each for 10 and 14 runs respectively.

Sahel Mia also was the top scorer for Walton who smashed 49 runs off 39 balls with 7 boundaries and 1 over-boundary. Besides, Jony Som and Kazi Omar Faruk scored unbeaten 17 and 15 runs respectively.

Sahel Mia won Man of the Match award for his outstanding performance.

Walton Group will play the seminal on December 23. Gazi Television will broadcast the match live.
