Tigers to defend 238

A 75-run innings from Mahmudullah and a 29-ball 44 from skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza helped Bangladesh post a decent score of 238 against England in the second ODI on Sunday.

It was not the best of the days for the Bangladesh batsmen, asked to bat first after English skipper Jos Buttler won the second successive toss in the series.

Tamim Iqbal managed 14 in 31 balls while last match’s centurion Imrul Kayes could not go past 11. Both the openrs were removed by Chris Woakes and when Sabbir Rahman (3) was bowled by Jake Ball, the Tigers were 39 for 3.

Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur Rahim then made 50 in the fourth wicket to avert further disaster. Mushfiq made 21 while Mosaddek Hossain added 29.

Mashrafe then blasted 44 to take the score past 200 while Nasir Hossain, brought in the squad for Mosharraf Hossain, added a vital run-a-ball 27 as the Tigers managed 238 in total.

Mashrafe and Nasir added 69 runs in the eighth wicket partnership.

The trio of Woakes, Adil Rashid and Ball picked up two wickets each.
