News Desk: The 54th Annual Meeting of the Development Cooperation Asian Development Bank (ADB) is starting today, Monday. The online meeting will run until May 5. Due to Corona, the last annual meeting of the ADB was held online. In this year’s annual meeting, the post-Corona economic recovery activities are being given more priority.

ADB President Masatsogo Asakawa will inaugurate the meeting, which begins today. Besides, ministers of different countries, governors of central banks and senior officials will take part in the meeting. This time in the three-day meeting, representatives of different countries will join various seminars and discussion meetings online. 23 sessions will be held in three days. These sessions will discuss post-Corona economic recovery, protection of women in Corona, eco-friendly development, digital transformation, energy policy.

This year’s annual general meeting is very important for Bangladesh. Because, in this meeting, it may be decided to get 94 crore dollars from ADB to buy corona vaccine. In terms of money, the amount is about eight thousand crore rupees. If this money is available, it will be the highest payment from any donor organization for the purchase of vaccines. Discussions are already underway to get this money.

Although the annual meeting did not decide on the amount of money to be given to Bangladesh, how a country can get it and where it needs to be spent will be discussed.
