Sports Desk: Hockey was once considered the most promising sport after football. But the Premier Division Hockey League has been stuck for the past three years. As a result, that tension is no more. However, the proposed franchise hockey league is showing hope again. It could again become a source of income for the players.
The Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) has been unable to do so due to financial constraints, despite repeated requests from the country’s hockey players to host the Premier League.
National team midfielder Mohammad Naeem Uddin said, “The workers of every club want the league to start. But the surprising thing is that if they sit in a meeting, they cannot reach a decision. And so we have to not eat year after year.
“The launch of the franchise league is a great opportunity for players who always want to get regular benefits. We want hockey to be back on the pitch and every player to make a living by playing this game. Most of the players are unemployed, except for a few who work in different forces, ”he added.
The introduction of franchise leagues will certainly give players the opportunity to make money and encourage emerging players to continue.
