uas news: House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy, who is running to be the next speaker, has made clear in the weeks between the Nov. 8 election and Jan. 3, when the new Congress is sworn in, that Democrats would no longer have one-party rule of Washington.
In fact, he’s been counting down.
“In 11 days, the new House GOP majority will change the direction of our country,” he said on the House floor Dec. 23 before voting against a $1.7 trillion spending bill.
Earlier in December, McCarthy noted Democrats would lose one-party rule “in 17 days.”
