Desk Report: Floodwaters have started receding in various parts of Pakistan, along with the spread of mosquito-borne diseases like malaria and dengue. Pakistan is buying 6.2 million mosquito nets from India to protect people from these diseases. Pakistan experienced unprecedented floods this year due to the heaviest rainfall in four decades and consequent melting of mountain glaciers in the northern region. Almost half of the country’s area was submerged in flood water day after day.
