News Desk: Black fungus infection has taken the shape of an epidemic in Corona-ridden India. More than 8,800 people have been infected with the black fungus in the country so far. It is very rare to get a disease called myocardial infarction. The incidence of this disease is 50 percent. Some patients can be saved by removing their eyes. But in India, thousands of patients recovering from the coronavirus are suffering from mycobacterium tuberculosis.
Doctors in India say there is a link between steroids used in corona treatment and black fungus infection. Diabetics in particular are at higher risk. These patients usually develop black fungus within 12 to 18 days of recovering from corona. In India, more than half of the black fungus patients are from Gujarat and Maharashtra. Black fungus infection has been detected in at least 15 states. Due to the spread of the disease, 29 states in India have been instructed to declare mucomycosis an epidemic.
Doctors say the new wards that have been opened for the treatment of patients infected with black fungus are rapidly filling up. The number of black fungus patients has increased from 8 to 185 in a week at Maharaja Yeshwantrao Hospital in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. VP Pandey, head of the hospital’s medicine department, said 80 per cent of the patients needed immediate surgery.
“Black fungus infection has become more challenging than coronavirus,” Pandey said. If patients are not treated at the right time and in the right way, the mortality rate can increase up to 94 percent. The treatment of this disease is quite expensive and the supply of medicines is also low. ‘
