News Desk: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has allocated Tk 10 crore in favor of the deputy commissioners to help the victims of the ongoing ‘severe lockdown’ to combat the second wave of coronavirus and prevent infection.
The information was confirmed to the media on Wednesday (April 21) by the Assistant Press Secretary to the Prime Minister. M. Imrul Kayes.
He said, “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has allocated Tk 10 crore 50 lakhs in favor of the Deputy Commissioners to help the poor, destitute, floating and indigent people affected by the ongoing lockdown due to coronavirus.”
With this allocated money, the Deputy Commissioners will provide various assistance to the poor, destitute, floating and indigent people affected by the lockdown.
The government has taken several initiatives to help those who have lost their jobs in the ongoing lockdown. Several initiatives have been taken like cash, food, sale of daily necessities economically through TCB, assistance to farmers.
Earlier, Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport Minister Obaidul Quader said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would provide financial assistance to 36 lakh 25 thousand families as Eid gifts. This year, like last year, the beneficiaries will get the money through mobile banking.
It is to be noted that due to the increase in coronavirus infection, strict restrictions have been imposed in the country recently. After that, a comprehensive lockdown was implemented across the country from April 14. The two-week lockdown will end on April 28.
