Sports Desk: The South African women’s emerging team visiting Bangladesh is expected to return home without playing the last match of the five-match ODI series due to lockdown. But they have to stay in Bangladesh as the corona of five members of the team was caught. The rest were scheduled to catch a flight to South Africa at 4pm yesterday. A BCB source confirmed the news of the departure of five members of the South African cricket team.
The five members who tested positive for Corona are cricketer Sinalo Jafta, Leah Jones, Nobulumko Banetti, Robin Shirley and team manager Marcia Letsoalo. Yesterday morning, all the members of the team gave samples of corona test at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital. Corona test results came last night. At that time the party was waiting in Dhaka to leave Sylhet and fly to the country. It is learned that five members of the South African Emerging Team who tested positive for Corona are now in isolation at the hotel.
The South African girls did not have a good time visiting Bangladesh. The visitors have lost all four of the four 50-over matches played at the Sylhet International Stadium. The girls of Bangladesh Women’s Emerging team have won the series in all three categories.
Before coming to Bangladesh, many of these teams played for the South African women’s team against the Indian women’s team. The Proteas lost 4-1 in their ODI series on Indian soil. The South African girls also won the three-match T20 series 2-1.
