News Desk: Bangladesh Bank will release three designs of coins on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of independence. Among them is a commemorative note of Rs 50 and a conventional note and a silver commemorative coin of Rs 50. These notes will be released in the market from March 28. These obsolete and conventional coins will be available at the Motijheel office of Bangladesh Bank first. Bangladesh Bank has given this information in a notification.

Silver commemorative coins worth Rs 50 weigh 30 grams. On the front of the commemorative coin is the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman (speech on March 7), below the portrait is inscribed in valuable words and figures ‘Fifty 50 rupees’ and on the portrait is semicircularly inscribed ‘Golden Jubilee of Independence 1971-2021′. On the back of the commemorative coin is printed in English ’50’ and in the middle of ‘e’ is printed ‘Monogram of Bangladesh Bank’ and below it is ‘1971-2021’. The silver commemorative coin is valued at Rs 4,000 including the commemorative box.

The notification said that the existing color and design design of the current Rs 50 denomination banknote with Bangabandhu’s portrait (Bangabandhu’s portrait on the front and ‘Moi Deva’ watercolor Zainul Abedin on the back) is unchanged and a separate red-green monument near the watermark area on the right side of the note. Logo added. The commemorative banknote of Rs 50 denomination, printed on 100% cotton paper and signed by Governor Fazle Kabir, will retain all the other security features of the banknote. This note will be used in daily transactions like other notes of Rs 50 denomination.

Meanwhile, a 50 taka commemorative note signed by Bangladesh Bank Governor Fazle Kabir has a portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the left side of the front of the note and a commemorative logo near the watermark area on the right side of the note. In the middle of the note is written ‘Golden Jubilee of Independence 1971-2021’. Besides, in the upper right corner of the note, the value of the commemorative note is written as ’50 ‘in English, and in the lower right corner, the value is written as’ 50′ in Bengali. On the back of the note is a picture of the heroic freedom fighters titled ‘1971: Heroic Progress of the Freedom Fighters’.

The commemorative note of Rs 50 printed on 100% cotton paper has a 2 mm wide security thread on the right side of the portrait of Bangabandhu and on the right side of the note are printed ‘Portrait of Bangabandhu’, ’50’ and ‘Monogram of Bangladesh Bank’ as watermark. A separate folder in Bengali and English has been prepared separately for the commemorative note of Rs. 50. Apart from folders, the price of the commemorative note with envelope only has been fixed at Rs 50 and the price of the commemorative note with folder and envelope has been fixed at Rs 100.
