Entertainment desk: Ali Hossain, 61, a renowned composer and music director of the subcontinent, is no more. He breathed his last on Tuesday (February 18th) at Boston Hospital in the United States (Innalillahi wa Inna Ilahi Raziun).
Ali Hossain’s longtime aide Nadeem Ahmed confirmed the news of his death on social media Facebook. He wrote on Facebook, “I have to say with a very sad mind – the famous composer of the subcontinent Ali Hossain is no more with us. Not long ago, he left this mortal world and embarked on the eternal journey of surrendering himself to the great Creator. I extend my heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family and wish him well. ”
Earlier, Ali Hossain was admitted to the ICU of the hospital in critical condition. He was suffering from lung complications.

The list includes – ‘How good it is for you to sit down’, ‘Don’t forget this song written with tears’,’ Hey, you are the king of my life ‘,’ Keep this sky as a witness, keep this wind as a witness’, ‘And in a dream with two eyes There are many popular songs including ‘Ke Tumi Ale Go Amar A Jibane’.
Ali Hossain was born on 23 March 1940 in Comilla. He had to study in Karachi, Pakistan due to his father’s job. Ali Hossain once got a job as an assistant teacher at Nazrul Academy. Due to his job at Nazrul Academy, he also learned music from Pierre Khan, a high music teacher of the same institution. Thus gradually his involvement with the song.
The first film to the tune of Ali Hossain, ‘Dak Babu’ directed by Mostafiz, was released in 1986. In this film, he performed the song ‘Halud Bato Mendi Bato’ with Shahnaz Rahmatullah. Syed Abdul Hadi also sang in the same film. Shahnaz Rahmatullah and Syed Abdul Hadi made their debut in the film with his hand.
In the same film, Abdul Hadi’s voice was ‘Chaturi Jaane Na Mor Badhua’. Azim-Sujata acted in the movie ‘Dak Babu’. The film was very popular at that time. As the songs became popular, Ali Hossain did not have to look back as a music director.
Apart from working in various Bengali films in Dhaka, Ali Hossain also directed the music for Urdu films like ‘Chhota Saheb’, ‘Dag’, ‘Anari’, ‘Coolie’ etc.
Ali Hossain has worked as a music director in more than a hundred movies. He was honored at the National Film Awards for directing the music for the film ‘Byathar Dan’ directed by Kamal Ahmed.
Ali Hossain’s wife Saleha Khatun. The only son Asif Hossain lives in America. He is said to have been with the boy before his death.
