Bangladesh haven’t got any opportunity of playing bilateral series from neighbouring India at their ground after the former had stepped into Test cricket in 2000. Mushfiqur Rahim led Bangladesh contingent left for New Delhi yesterday morning enroute to Hyderabad.
After a 17-year-long hiatus, Bangladesh this time got the opportunity for playing Test series against their Indian counterparts. Test series, comprising a Test match that will be held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on February 9.
Before flying for India, the excitement among Bangladesh players had no dearth. Spin all-rounder Mehedi Hasan Miraz, who recently made his Test debut against England at home turf, impressed all with his cherry. He hauled seven wickets on debut and overall grabbed 19 wickets in two-match Test series.
Miraz said that his aim is to talk and seeks tips from world No 1 spinner all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin.
“Ashwin is world class player. Although he will play the match and bowl against us, my target will be there to talk and seek tips from him after the end of the match,” said Mehedi Hasan.
The 20-year-old spinner believes that the better result will be possible in India if they could bowl in right areas with line and length.
“I think spinners in India will get helps from the wicket. We have experienced spinners such as Shakib bhai, Taijul bhai in the team. I am also doing well, Inshallah,” Miraz said
“We have to keep efforts to make our continuation there. They have a crop of good batsmen. But if we could bowl in right areas then the better result is possible,” Miraz told media before heading to India.
Pace sensation Taskin Ahmed considers himself as fortunate to be placed in only Test squad for India. He said that he wants to bowl in such spell so that he could keep it ‘memorable’ for the rest of the life.
“I am lucky enough that I have got place into India-bound Test squad. I will try to do something ‘memorable’ if I get chance,” said Taskin Ahmed, who recently debuted in Test in New Zealand, where he earned lauds from all the quarter for his pace bowling performance.
“I will try my best to do better performance. I will try to bowl even such spell that could turn the match’s result. It’s a biggest Test for us. So I‘ll try to give my best for the team,” Ahmed told the media.
Top-order batsman Soumya Sarkar, who came back in form for a long lull following his patchy form, is thrilled with excitement to make his maiden tour in India, stating that he also set his aims to play better cricket in India tour.
“Playing better cricket is my lone personal target in the tour. I will try my best to give my team if I get chance,” said Soumya Sarkar. “As this is our first tour in India so I am along with others are jubilant. I’ll try to keep it memorable. I want to do something better in Indian soil,” Sarkar also said.
Paceman Subhashis Roy is also happy to be part with this historical tour in India. Seeking blessings from the countrymen, Roy said that he could do better things for the team.
“Personally I am very much happy to get chance in this historical tour of Bangladesh team in India. I seek everybody’s blessings so that I could do well and do better for my team,” said Subhashis Roy, who tries to bag the big wicket of Virat Kohli if get opportunity. “If team management gives chance to me, I will then try to bowl as per the plan,” Roy also said.
