The High Court on Wednesday asked the police to arrest assistant sub-inspector Abdus Salam of Special Branch and take punitive actions against him for demanding bribe from the wife of a Judge.
The High Court single bench of Justice Quazi Reza-Ul Hoque passed the suo moto order as the police official appeared before the court. He was handed over to Shahbagh police.
According to sources, Salam demanded Taka 2,000 as bribe from the wife of High Court Justice Abu Taher Md Saifur Rahman for police verification for passports for their two sons.bss
