The two countries became embroiled in a bitter trade war under former President Donald Trump. Later in January last year the two largest economies in the world struck a deal. In that agreement, Beijing pledged to increase its purchases of at least 200 billion in US goods and services by 2020 and 2021.
Katherine Tye added that she was monitoring whether Beijing had met the terms of the agreement.
Analysts say China has not fulfilled 40 percent of the agreement it made to buy US goods. So far, however, the Biden administration has not followed in the footsteps of its successor.
