Big fall in stock market, the index fell 3.25% in two days

News Desk: The stock market regulator has decided that the stock market index has fallen sharply in the last two days. As a result, the main index of the country’s main stock market Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) DSEX has decreased by 172 points or about 3 percent. Similarly, the overall index of the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) has declined by 451 points or about 3 percent.

The stock market plunged in the last two working days after the decision to raise the minimum price or floor price of the shares of the 66 listed companies. A meeting of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) on Wednesday decided to raise the minimum price of shares of 66 companies. The decision has been in effect since Thursday.

As a result of this decision, the main index of DSE decreased by 83 points last Thursday. And on Sunday, the first working day of the week, the index decreased by 90 points or 2.5 percent. However, to prevent a fall, the BSEC reduced the one-day bidding limit of the company from 10 percent to 2 percent last Saturday. Even then the price drop did not stop yesterday. The day’s trading begins with a big fall in the index.

Market participants say, “The market has been in a negative trend for some time. The sudden decision to raise the price level on the shares of 66 companies has had a negative impact on ordinary investors, which has affected the entire market. ”

Despite the bad market conditions, some shares of the insurance sector are rising abnormally. The price of some shares in this sector has risen from 20 to 35 percent in just 5 working days. Market participants say, “Trader is again active in the insurance sector. As prices continue to rise, many ordinary investors are turning to insurance stocks by selling good stocks they have. As a result, the decline in good share prices is having a negative impact on the index. For this reason, the top officials of several brokerage houses have said that they will look into the cause of the abnormal price increase of some insurance companies.
