A student of a private university drowned in the Kumar River at Paschim Alipur in the district town on Thursday.
Nizam Uddin, officer-in-charge of Faridpur Kotwali Police Station, said Nazmus Sakib,25, a 3rd year student of Stamford University and son of Anisur Rahman, drowned in the river while bathing a sacrificial animal around 2:30 pm.
Informed, a firefighting unit rescued Sakib and he was rushed to Faridpur General Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
