The government is going to import rice from Myanmar through G to G (government to government) basis.
Food Minister Advocate Md Kamrul Islam made the disclosure while addressing newsmen after a bilateral meeting with Myanmar ambassador in Dhaka Myo Myint Than on Sunday.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) will be signed in this regard soon, he said.
The minister also said that Myanmar is an important neighbor of Bangladesh. Bangladesh expects more commercial facilities from Myanmar as a close neighboring state.
