The ruling Bangladesh Awami League (AL) general secretary, Obaidul Quader, on Tuesday said his party will think twice in giving nomination to those of his party men who will indulge in misdeeds and will misbehave with the people.
Obaidul Quader, who was made the party general secretary in party’s recently-held council session, was speaking at a press conference at the party president’s Dhanmondi office.
“There will be question over nomination in the next general elections about those who will misbehave with people and will tarnish the image of the party and the government by indulging in misdeeds,” the AL general secretary told the press conference.
He said, “Our plan is to expedite our activity every day. It is not only in Dhaka. The activity at the grassroots level will also be expedited. Our target is the next election, for the time being.”
Also the road and bridges minister, Quader said the party’s another target is to keep the pace of development-achievement until 2021.
“Right at this moment, our rival who can resort to enmity openly against us is very weak. We still consider the militancy our hidden enemy. We will fight it taking the people with us.”
