WhatsApp chat is bringing backup password

Facebook-owned WhatsApp is working to bring a password protection feature for backing up chatting in the cloud. This will keep the chatting backups encrypted, and only the user will see them.

WhatsApp chat is currently secured with end-to-end encryption. But this protection does not apply to backups in Google Drive and Apple Cloud. Wabatinfo reported on Monday that it is working on WhatsApp’s cloud backup encryption.

‘Using passwords will protect chatting databases and media from unauthorized access. The password will be private and will not be sent to WhatsApp. It will come for iOS and Android in the future. ‘- Wabatinfo said in a tweet.

According to a report by India TV, the feature was spotted once last year, this is the second time it has been discussed. It has been shared via screenshots.

‘You can set a password to prevent unauthorized access to iCloud Drive Backup which will encrypt future backups. When you want to restore from a backup, you will need a password. ‘- is written in the screenshot.

Facebook is going to implement the new privacy policy from May 15. Users and governments in various countries have already expressed concern over the issue, with many not agreeing to share data with Facebook, the parent company. WhatsApp has not yet made any official comment on the matter.
