Offspinner Nathan Lyon has struck with the new ball for Australia, taking three key wickets before lunch of the second Test against Bangladesh in Chittagong.<\/p>\n

With Australia sent in to the field on Monday, Lyon trapped Bangladesh danger man Tamim Iqbal (9) lbw in the 10th over.<\/p>\n

He then had Imrul Kayes (4) dismissed the same way, with skipper Steve Smith successfully reviewing the original not out decision to leave the hosts 2-21 midway through the first session.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The visitors had squandered an earlier opportunity to dismiss Tamim, with Glenn Maxwell dropping a regulation catch at third slip – a position occupied by the dumped Usman Khawaja in the first Test.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Maxwell let the chance slip through on his second attempt after a ripping Pat Cummins delivery caught a thick edge.<\/p>\n

With Steve O’Keefe added as a third spinner to replace injured quick Josh Hazlewood, the Australians opened the attack with Cummins and Lyon on a flat and dry deck.<\/p>\n

It was the first time in 79 years that Australia had opened the bowling with a spinner in the first innings of a Test.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Looking to square the series after losing the opening Test by 20 runs in Dhaka last week, Australia dropped Khawaja in favour of Hilton Cartwright but spared wicketkeeper Matthew Wade the axe.<\/p>\n

Cartwright will bat at No.6, while Smith will move up the order to Khawaja’s No.3 position.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Late last week, Smith refused to rule out Wade being dropped and the gloves handed to batsman Peter Handscomb.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The decision to play three spinners leaves Cummins as the sole paceman, although batting allrounder Cartwright is expected to provide back-up with his medium pace.<\/p>\n

Khawaja made just two runs in a disastrous return to national duties as the Australians slumped to their first-ever Test loss to ninth-ranked Bangladesh.<\/p>\n

After days of rain and storms, the Australians arrived at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium to clear conditions on Monday.<\/p>\n
