A back problem has ruled winger Andre Schuerrle out of Germany\u2019s friendly against Finland and their opening 2018 World Cup qualifier away to Norway<\/p>\n
But the performance has come at a cost as Schuerrle will sit out Wednesday\u2019s friendly in Moenchengladbach, which will be midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger\u2019s final international match, and the World Cup qualifier in Oslo next Sunday, the German FA (DFB) confirmed.<\/p>\n
\u201cI took a blow, which really affected my back,\u201d Schuerrle told German magazine Kicker on Saturday, before his withdrawal was announced.<\/p>\n
The friendly against Finland will be Schweinsteiger\u2019s 121st and final Germany appearance, having announced his retirement earlier this month.<\/p>\n
The 32-year-old has been exiled from the Manchester United first-team squad by new head coach Jose Mourinho and banished to the reserves, but the ex-Bayern Munich star said last Wednesday that he has no plans to leave Old Trafford.<\/p>\n
Head coach Joachim Loew is expected to name Schweinsteiger\u2019s replacement in Monday\u2019s press conference.<\/p>\n
