The move meant that the retirement age for the freedom fighters, who are in government service, is at 60.<\/p>\n
The proposal was rejected at a regular cabinet meeting held at the Secretariat on Monday with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on chair.<\/p>\n
Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam briefed media after the meeting.<\/p>\n
Following a writ petition, the High Court on January 14 ordered the secretaries to the ministries of public administration, liberation war affairs, and law to place before the cabinet the proposal in 60 days for increasing freedom fighters` retirement age from 57 to 65.<\/p>\n
The government challenged the HC verdict, which the Supreme Court upheld on January 17.<\/p>\n
