Train drivers on the London Underground look set to strike in a long-running dispute over pay and plans for an all-night Tube service.<\/p>\n
The union which represents them, ASLEF, has told Sky News it expects to call for three days of action after a meeting on Monday.<\/p>\n
If the executive agrees, there will be a 24-hour strike shortly after 9pm on Wednesday 27 January followed by two further 24-hour walkouts from the same time on 15 February and 17 February.<\/p>\n
London Underground has offered a four-year pay deal and said it will hire part-time drivers to staff an all-night service at weekends.<\/p>\n
However, unions have been seeking assurances about terms and conditions for their members. <\/p>\n
ASLEF’s Finn Brennan said the union had been left “with no other choice” because of the behaviour of London Underground’s senior management, who he said had refused to hold talks since November.<\/p>\n
He said: “There is still no indication when they (drivers) will receive the pay rise that was due last April.<\/p>\n
“We want to see an all-night service introduced, and we are not opposed to the recruitment of part time staff. But we will not accept a zero hours culture being introduced and working conditions undermined.<\/p>\n
