Bangladesh, at the back of quick-fire half centuries from Mohammad Naim (43-ball 60) and Saif Hassan (48-ball 84), registered a massive 87-run win over Namibia to begin their world cup campaign on a strong note. Eben van Wyk’s 52-ball 55 had little consequence as the other batsmen in the side failed.<\/p>\n

Chasing a massive target of 191 in the rain shortened 20-over-a-side encounter, they were put on the backfoot by the fifth over itself, reduced to 12 for 4. On the opening day of the world cup, Namibia were convincingly outplayed.<\/p>\n

All teams in each group will play each other once. The top two from each group will qualify for the quarterfinals, and the top four will qualify for the semifinals.<\/p>\n

The final will be played on February 3.<\/p>\n

The Young Tigers have been pitted in Group C with Canada, Namibia and the England to play the group stage of the one-day format 16-team world event.<\/p>\n

In their remaining group battles Bangladesh will play Canada and England on January 15 and 18 respectively.<\/p>\n
