{"id":11028,"date":"2017-10-09T00:55:48","date_gmt":"2017-10-09T00:55:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.banglanewsus.com\/english\/?p=11028"},"modified":"2017-10-09T00:55:48","modified_gmt":"2017-10-09T00:55:48","slug":"proteas-crush-bangladesh-by-an-innings-and-254-runs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.banglanewsus.com\/english\/2017\/10\/09\/proteas-crush-bangladesh-by-an-innings-and-254-runs\/","title":{"rendered":"Proteas crush Bangladesh by an innings and 254 runs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kagiso Rabada broke records and Bangladesh\u2019s hearts to bowl South Africa to a crushing victory in the second test in Bloemfontein on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Rabada\u2019s match haul of 10\/63\u201a which marked the third time he has taken 10 wickets in only 22 tests\u201a made him the leading bowler in test cricket this year\u201a and at 22 the youngest to claim 100 scalps for South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He took 5\/30 in Bangladesh\u2019s second innings to power South Africa to their win\u201a which they earned by an innings and 254 runs with more than two days to spare.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>South Africa\u2019s triumph was complete just less than an hour before the scheduled tea interval on the third day.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>That gave the home side\u201a who won the first test by 333 runs in Potchefstroom on Monday\u201a the series 2-0.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Bangladesh\u201a who followed on 426 runs behind South Africa\u2019s declaration of 573\/4\u201a resumed on seven without loss and were soon reduced to 29\/2 when Rabada had Soumya Sarkar taken behind and Mominul Haque caught at deep midwicket to go to 99 wickets.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Rabada\u2019s 100th was Mahmudullah\u201a who tried to drive a lifting delivery and edged it to Dean Elgar in the gully.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mahmudullah\u2019s 43 off 59 balls was the best performance of Bangladesh\u2019s in terms of runs scored and balls faced.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Despite his team\u2019s abjectly poor display\u201a Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim earned South Africa\u2019s respect for soldiering on against medical advice after taking a fearsome blow on the helmet.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mushfiqur was 11 not out when he ducked into a short delivery from Duanne Olivier.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The ball crashed solidly into the side of the batsman\u2019s helmet\u201a and he staggered away from his stumps before sinking to his knees and rolling onto his side.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Play was held up for several minutes while Mushfiqur received medical attention.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Among those in attendance was Mohammed Moosajee\u201a South Africa\u2019s team manager and a medical doctor.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>South Africa team management said Moosajee advised Mushfiqur to leave the field. Instead a replacement helmet was called for and he batted on.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The on-fire Olivier\u2019s next ball was another bouncer\u201a which Mushfiqur avoided.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>But the fast bowler then smacked Mahmudullah on the helmet\u201a this time without noticeable consequences.
