‘Everyone has to follow the rules of hygiene, otherwise there will be a lockdown again’: Obaidul Quader

News Desk: Awami League General Secretary and Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader has said that if the public transport is allowed to operate after the lockdown, everyone will have to abide by the health rules, otherwise the government will be forced to impose a strict lockdown again.

Obaidul Quader said this in a regular briefing from his official residence on Sunday (April 25) morning. “After the lockdown, if public transport is allowed, everyone will have to abide by the rules of hygiene,” he said. Otherwise, the government will be forced to impose a severe lockdown again.

Earlier on Saturday (April 24), in a virtual exchange of views with Barisal Road Zone, BRTC and BRTA officials, Obaidul Quader said, “The government is considering launching public transport subject to conditions in the public interest.” The bridge minister said the use of masks and hand sanitizers should be made mandatory even if the restrictions are relaxed. The culprits will be punished if they take more than the fare that was fixed by leaving half the seats vacant in public transport.

Railway Minister on the same day. Nurul Islam Sujan said that if a decision is taken to run the bus from April 29, the train will also run at the same time. “We have all kinds of preparations for the train,” he said. If the government decides to run public transport from April 29, the train will run according to the health rules from the same day.
