Composer Farid Ahmed is no more

Entertainment Desk: National Film Award winning music director, composer Farid Ahmed is no more. He passed away this morning while undergoing treatment (Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilahi Raziun).

Corona-affected music director Farid Ahmed has been on life support since April 11. The family was called from the hospital at 9:10 a.m. on Tuesday to say he had died. He had been receiving medical treatment at two hospitals in Dhaka for more than two weeks. Today his life lamp went out. Forever he left the Maya of the world. The news of the music director’s death has been confirmed by his eldest daughter Durdana Farid. His family wants to bury his father’s body in the Martyred Intellectual Cemetery in Mirpur, said Durdana Farid.

Farid Ahmed, who has been undergoing treatment at the hospital since the last week of last month, was given artificial respiration on Sunday morning, April 11. Farid Ahmed, who is undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, has been deteriorating since last Saturday evening.

The doctors then took him to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for medical treatment. After burning a lot of wood, his ICU was arranged in a private hospital after 12 o’clock that night. But in the morning, the family was informed that Farid Ahmed had to breathe artificially. He was taken to life support at 4 am with the permission of his family.

Composer and music director Farid Ahmed had a high fever for several days at the end of last month. There was no taste or smell in the food. Corona was tested three times. Although the first two rounds were negative, the third time Covid-19 was positive. After that he was not kept at home. He was admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University in Dhaka on the night of March 25. At the end of 17 days his hospital was changed. Farid Ahmed’s lungs were most infected in Corona. Initially, 60 percent of his lungs were infected. The doctors tried but failed.

Farid Ahmed is the composer of many timeless songs. His handcuffs on guitar to school friend Bayezid. Then he walked in the professional music hall holding the hand of Feroz Sai.

He used to play bass guitar in the band “Spondon”. Although Feroz Sai left “Spondon”, he used to play the guitar with him. Farid Ahmed was praised for his song “I am like a desert without you” written by Liton Adhikari Rintu and sung by Kumar Biswajit. Since then he has composed many melodies. He also arranged music.

Special mention should be made of the title song of Hanif Sanket’s ‘Etc.’ “Kew Kew Obiram Chup”, Kumar Biswajit’s “Moner-E Rag Onurag”, “I can float with you on the ferry of death together”, Runa Layla’s “Ferrari Siren”, Runa Layla And Sabina Yasmeen’s “Dilchut Prajapati”, Channel I’s “Aaj Janmadin”, “Khude Gaanraj”, “Hridaye Mati O Manush”, “Sera Kantha” competition theme song, Sumi Shabnam’s popular song “Lalita”, Rezwana Chowdhury’s movie song He is the composer of many other popular songs including “Tumi Amar Jiboner Gohine”. Farid Ahmed acted as the first music director in Nur Hossain Balai’s “Nispati”.

In 2017, he received the National Film Award as a music director. He won the award for directing music in the movie ‘Tumi Robe Nirbe’ based on the story of Rabindranath Tagore. Mahbuba Islam is the director of this movie produced by Impress Telefilm. Farid Ahmed also composed the soundtrack for this movie.
