News Desk: Journalist Shaheen Reza Noor (7), son of martyred intellectual Sirajuddin Hossain, is no more. The child-martyr died of cancer at a hospital in Vancouver, Canada, around 10 a.m. Bangladesh time on Saturday (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilahi Raziun). Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed grief over the death of Shaheen Reza Noor.

Shaheen Reza Noor’s brother Touhid Reza Noor said he had been suffering from pancreatic cancer for three years. Shaheen and our family want him to sleep on the soil of the country. We are seeking the intervention of the Hon’ble Prime Minister in this regard.

Shaheen Reza Noor’s father Sirajuddin Hossain was the message and executive editor of the daily Ittefaq. Shaheen Reza Noor, the second of his eight children, was born in 1955 in Sharshuna village of Shalikha police station in Magura district. When the intellectual massacre started on December 10, 1971, the journalist Sirajuddin Hossain became its ruthless victim. In November 1983, Shaheen Reza joined the daily Ittefaq as an apprentice assistant editor. After working for Ittefaq for 18 consecutive years, he moved to Canada in 1986. There he became involved with the publication of the Bengali weekly Prabas Bangla from Montreal. Returning to the country from Canada, he joined the daily Ittefaq again.
