The body of Argentina, Barcelona and Napoli legend Diego Maradona has been taken to a morgue for a post-mortem to determine his cause of death “beyond any doubt”, reports Daily Mirror.
The Argentine suffered a fatal cardiac arrest on Wednesday (November 25) at his home in Tigre.
His body has been taken to a morgue near the Argentine capital Buenos Aires for a post-mortem, although a state prosecutor has confirmed there are no signs of violence.
The prosecutor, working under the orders of Laura Capra, said: “Diego Armando Maradona died around 12pm local time. The forensic police began their work at 4pm.
“No signs of any criminality or violence have been detected.
“The autopsy is being carried out to determine beyond any doubt the cause of death but we can say at this stage that everything is pointing to natural causes.”
Maradona fell unwell in late October after suffering a blood clot on his brain, and needed immediate surgery to remove the problem.
The World Cup winner was allowed home after surgery to continue his recovery and was said to be doing well.
But on Wednesday the Argentine suffered a fatal cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead.
